Up the Campanile / En haut du Campanile

Le Campanile est la tour du campus de Berkeley. Grace à Phil, un étudiant du labo à Deniz, on a pu y rentrer et monter tout en haut!
The Campanile is the clock tower of the Berkeley campus. Thanks to Phil, an undergrad student in Deniz's lab, we had access to the very top flore where we can enjoy the view without the fence!

Big Sur

Direction le sud, sur la côte: Big Sur!
Further south and on the ocean shore: Big Sur!

Big Sur est une réserve protégée, à cheval entre l'océan et la montagne. Le paradis pour les animaux qui, du coup, se sentent en sécurité et n'hésitent pas a venir se taper l'incruste: notamment les raton-laveurs qui savent ouvrir les toiles de tentes! On aura vu ce week end des biches, des taupes, des aigles et des phoques. On aura échappé au lion de montagne, mais par contre on s'est retrouvé nez à nez avec un serpent a sonette (sic...).
Big Sur is a natural reserve between the ocean and the mountains. It's a paradise for all kinds of animals who feel secure and are not a tiny bit scared of visitors: especially racoons who apparently know how to unzip the tent doors! We've seen plenty of dears, beavers, eagles and seals all weekend. We've also come across a rattle snake (phew..). We're just glad we haven't seen the 'montain lion'.

Notes to a toon underground

Rendez-vous au théatre Castro avec Jordane pour la soirée "Notes to a toon underground", dans le cadre du festival du film international de San Francisco. Au programme, 11 musiciens (dont quelques membres de Xiu Xiu, et William Winant pour ne citer qu'eux) qui assurent en live la b.o. de 15 films d'animation tournés entre 1912 et 2005. Terrible!!!!

We met up with Jordane, at the Castro theater for the evening programme "Notes to a toon underground", part of the San Francisco International film festival. The show consisted of 11 musiscians (among which are some members of Xiu Xiu, as well as William Winant to list a few) who played the sountrack for the 15 animation films made between 1912 to 2005 to be shown live. Awesome!!!!
